Yes, I do mean the wonders of Facebook. I don't argue with those who say it's a time waster, one big commercial, a danger, or a place for unbridled negativity. It hasn't been that for me (well, maybe a time waster occasionally, I'll grant you that!) In my Facebook experience, I've made many positive connections, both professional and personal. I've sold my work through connections made on a group I formed with alumnae from my college; received recommendations for great art festivals; virtually met talented artists (and later in real life); rediscovered people with whom I'd lost touch; laughed with friends old and new about life's absurdities; commiserated about current events; been inspired by the courage of others; provided physical and virtual support to women in need; shared opinions about things serious and silly; and I've even taken the occasional 'what's your true calling' quiz (Teacher--imagine that?!). Through it all, I've marveled at the virtual communities formed, empathy offered, friendships made and strengthened, crises handled, and support shown. When the events of the day threaten to overwhelm, I can always look to my newsfeed for something to lift my spirits, restore my faith in humanity, or make me smile.
The Your Creative Connections Facebook page is filled with content including our "Artful Monday Musings," "Wordless Wednesdays," and this blog's "Thankful Thursday" posts each week. As we approach our October event, we'll use our Facebook page to share some of our behind-the-scenes planning, special surprise teases, and other exciting events in the lead up to October 11th. We've been thrilled to see our page followers increase, and look forward reaching even more people who are interested in our message of creativity, connection, inspiration and fun. If you're reading this, and know people who'd enjoy what we have to offer, please share our page with them. Thank you!
Until we meet again, in the virtual world or IRL,
~MDP
